Extreme Winds in Valdez, Alaska 14 March 2006

We had an incredible amount of wind blowing through the harbor yesterday. Peaks gust were well over 95 miles per mile. There were three vessels ranging from 30 to 60 feet picked up off their blocking and tipped over in the boat yard. There were two vessels that broke loose from their mooring and many, many tarps and boat covers ripped off of vessels. Winds were strong enough to slide trucks and dumpsters across icy parking lots.Tags:
